We’re excited to announce that Alamein FC, in partnership with Ashburton United SC, has secured $660,000 in grant funding to upgrade our home grounds, the facilities at Dorothy Laver Reserve West.

This landmark funding will be used to build a more inclusive, modern and player-first football environment for more than 450 girls and women who train and compete at the ground, including our Alamein FC junior and senior teams.

The upgrades will include:

  • A fully funded electronic scoreboard (thanks to Bendigo Bank)

  • A video streaming platform to highlight female talent

  • Shaded spectator seating

  • Improved wheelchair access

  • Safety upgrades to fencing, turf, pathways and the player race

“This is a game-changing investment for female football in our community,” says Alamein FC President, Kathy Stamatopoulos. “It’s a shared success that reflects the power of collaboration and the value of investing in girls and women in sport.”

The grant was officially announced on Wednesday 9 April, at Dorothy Laver Reserve West, by Dr Carina Garland MP, and Senator Penny Wong.

Alamein FC would like to thank the Federal Government, Bendigo Bank Ashburton, and all our players, volunteers and supporters who have helped make this vision a reality. This is your win too — and we’re only just getting started.

The story was also published in prominent Greek newspaper, Neos Kosmos.
