Alamein in the community
Alamein FC is proud to call the City of Boroondara home. Our home ground is the Dorothy Laver Reserve West, in Ashburton.
As one of Victoria’s only all-female football clubs, we provide something truly special for local girls and their families: a place to belong, to grow and to pursue excellence, right in their own backyard.
From our youngest players seeking to develop their skills for the first time, to aspiring professionals preparing for the next level, Alamein offers a rare all-female football pathway that lives and breathes here in Boroondara.
While girls travel from across Melbourne just to join our programs, the local community benefits first-hand, with Boroondara families enjoying easier access to elite coaching, female role-models, and meaningful football development opportunities.
A performance pathway, close to home
Alamein FC continues to grow and in 2026, we will offer a complete female football development pathway from age 9 through to senior level, combining our National Premier League (NPL) squads with a growing Development Program. This structure allows Boroondara players to start and continue their journey locally, with clear stepping stones as their game progresses.
For girls seeking more than just participation (who want to train seriously, grow their skills, and aim high) Alamein provides a high-performance, all-female environment where they can truly thrive.
Powerful role-models, right here in the City of Boroondara
One of the most unique aspects of our club is the beautiful connection between juniors and senior players. Alamein’s senior women — some of Victoria’s top semi-professional athletes — regularly mentor younger squads, run group workshops, and offer one-on-one coaching. For local girls, this means they receive unique access to high-level role models without needing to leave the local area (the video on this page is part of a group-mentoring session by one of our Senior players).
These connections help build confidence, resilience, and belief. Local female players can see their own potential reflected right in front of them, and take real steps toward it
City of Boroondara: championing pathways for girls
We’re grateful to the City of Boroondara for supporting women’s sport through Alamein FC, helping to make it possible for local girls to access high-level football opportunities close to home. Thanks to this support, the City of Boroondara is emerging as a leader in female football development.
Alamein FC is the only all-female club in Melbourne to field teams across every age group in the NPLW, from every age-group of juniors through to seniors. It’s no surprise that girls from across the city are drawn to our club. But it’s Boroondara families who benefit most directly, with unique, local access to outstanding coaching, powerful female role models, and a clear performance pathway right on their doorstep.
We are proud of the role we play not just in shaping future athletes, but in creating a stronger, more connected community here in Ashburton.
Alamein FC welcomes and supports female players in their development from all over Melbourne, but our roots are firmly in the Inner East:
Advanced development and coaching opportunities for local girls, in an inclusive, all-female environment
Pathways to high-level football, accessible from within the community
Strong female role models, mentoring the next generation locally
Local economic and social benefits through increased use of our grounds, events, and club activity
A positive “good humans” club culture, built on respect, leadership, and community values
Our reputation as a home for women’s sport, helping the City of Boroondara lead the way in female football
Girls deserve more
Too often, girls in football are treated as an afterthought: training on the sidelines, using second-rate equipment, or playing without recognition. It’s a quiet inequality many families notice, but don’t always know how to change. At Alamein FC, we do things differently.
As an all-female club, we put girls first in everything we do: equal access to facilities, high-quality coaching, clear development pathways, and a culture that celebrates every team. Here, female players are never an add-on. They are the focus.
If your daughter’s football experience hasn’t felt like enough, Alamein could be the fresh start you’ve been looking for. Register your interest to join our teams.
