Cade Wright returns as U15 Head Coach for 2027

Alamein FC has confirmed Cade Wright will return as U15 GVYPL1 Head Coach in 2027, following a strong first season with the club.

Wright joined Alamein at the beginning of 2026 and has overseen a promising campaign from his U15 group, highlighted by a run to the Victorian Club State Championships Grand Final. Alamein went through the tournament undefeated in regulation time, progressing to the Final against FC Bulleen Lions before the match was decided on penalties.

Beyond the tournament, Wright has focused on developing a young group at an important stage of Alamein’s player pathway, preparing players for the increasing technical, tactical and competitive demands of U17 and, ultimately, senior football.

An FA C Licence coach, Wright arrived at Alamein with experience in the female game through two seasons at Calder United. He worked as an analyst with Calder’s Senior program in 2024 before taking charge of the club’s U13s in 2025, moving to Alamein to coach at U15 level this season.

His broader experience in football includes working with Melbourne City’s City in the Community program across 2023 and 2024, followed by a three-month operations traineeship within City’s NPLM Academy in 2025.

Wright will now have the opportunity to build on his first season at Alamein as he returns to lead the U15 program in 2027.

“When I sit down and think about this year, looking beyond the results, I think as a group, over my first 12 months, we have built some really strong foundations to help carry us forward into 2027,” he says.

“We’ve made Dorothy Laver a tough place for teams to come to, which is always a good place to start, as well as instilling the basis for an aggressive front-foot game style.”

With the U15s sitting at an important point in Alamein’s pathway, Wright’s focus will remain on developing players capable of taking the next step while building a team ready to compete at a high level.

“I’m also really impressed by the mentality the group has adopted throughout the year. They have become a group that is tight knit, but can also sit there and admit to themselves when we haven’t been at the level we expect of ourselves.

“Overall I’m very impressed with how the girls have gone this year, and I look forward to what the next 12 months at Alamein brings.”
