Supporting girls who want more

Before they were playing National Premier League football, Yasemin and Ivy were part of something special: Alamein’s all-girl Development Squad.

Both started their football journeys in community teams, like most girls do. But when they began craving more than the local scene could offer in terms of challenge, feedback, and opportunity, they joined Alamein’s pre-NPL Development Program, a squad built for girls who are ready to train harder, think faster, and grow their game in a supportive, all-female environment.

Twelve months later, they both earned spots in Alamein’s Under 13 NPL team.

A different kind of development

Alamein’s Development Squad competes in the highest level of community football, but it’s far more than a community team. It’s a stepping-stone program with NPL-level coaching, access to Alamein’s training facilities, and a culture focused on growth, not pressure. For many players, it’s their first experience being treated like a footballer, not just a participant.

In their own words, Yasemin and Ivy describe what made the difference:

  • “It’s really different compared to a boy’s and girls club because we are the main priority. So we get developed quicker.” - Ivy

  • “At Junior NPL (Development) there was more structure than in community, and you got to learn that. Then it was an easier transition to NPL.” - Yasemin

  • “Alamein’s training not as easy as community, it's actual training, but they're not rude. They're nice coaches and really supportive.” - Ivy

  • “I made such a good decision coming to Alamein, and it is such a friendly and inclusive club.” - Yasemin

Not just for the top 1%

This isn’t a program reserved just for superstars or early developers. It’s for girls who love to play football, who want to train with intent, and who are beginning to outgrow what community football alone can provide. Whether or not they go on to NPL, girls in our Development Squad benefit from:

  • Structured, progressive training sessions

  • Regular competition in community leagues under the Alamein banner

  • Mentorship from female coaches and older players

  • A direct link to Alamein’s elite junior program

Bridging - not bypassing - the community system

At Alamein FC, we’re proud to be part of the wider football ecosystem. We don’t see ourselves as separate from community football, we’re an extension of it, offering the next step for girls who are ready.

Many of our Development players still cheer on their friends at local clubs or have siblings playing elsewhere. What we provide is an opportunity: to stretch, to belong, and to be seen.

Expressions of Interest for our 2026 Development Squads open soon, and will be offered in several age-groups. Girls aged 10–13 who are looking to grow in a high-support, high-standard environment are encouraged to apply (register your interest early here if you’d like to be notified when trials open).
