Alamein Academy to expand to U18 in 2027

September 2026: Alamein FC is planning to expand its Academy program in 2027, with expressions of interest now open for a new U17/18 girls team.

The new team would extend Alamein’s Academy offering beyond U16 for the first time, giving players the opportunity to continue playing within the club’s all-female environment through to U18.

Subject to the group formed, the team will compete in either Community B or Community C in 2027.

The expansion would see Alamein Academy teams spanning U11 to U18, alongside the club’s VYPLG and Senior NPLW programs.

More opportunities to stay in the game

Alamein established its Academy to provide a high-quality football environment for girls outside the NPL system. Academy teams train within Alamein’s broader football program and share the standards, resources and culture of the club, while competing in community leagues.

In 2026, Alamein fielded Academy teams at U11, U12, U14 and U16. The addition of an U17/18 team is the next step in the program’s growth and addresses an important stage in the female game: giving older teenage players another opportunity to continue playing competitive football.

For Alamein, providing that opportunity is an important part of fulfilling the Club’s mandate. Not every player wants or needs the same football experience. Some are pursuing football at NPL level, while others want to train seriously, compete with their friends and continue developing within an environment where girls’ and women’s football is the sole focus.

Both have a place at Alamein.

An all-female environment from U11 to U18

As an all-female club, Alamein’s football program is designed specifically around girls and women. Academy players are part of the same club environment as Alamein’s VYPLG, U20 and Senior NPLW players, with female football at the centre of the club’s coaching, facilities, resources and culture.

Extending the Academy to U18 means girls can now potentially remain within that environment across almost their entire junior football journey.

It also creates an important option for players reaching the later teenage years who want to continue taking their football seriously without playing in the VYPLG competition.

The new U17/18 team will be formed according to the players who express interest, with the appropriate Community B or C competition level determined once the group is established.

Expressions of interest now open

Alamein Academy is now seeking expressions of interest from players interested in joining the new U17/18 team for 2027.

The club is looking to build a group of players who want to train with purpose, compete and contribute positively to a strong team environment.
