Introducing: Alamein’s new internship program

Supporting the next generation of creators and sport professionals in women’s football.

Behind the growth of women’s football are the creatives, storytellers and match-day leaders who help the game come alive. To support the next generation (and to create opportunities that are still all-too rare in women’s sport), Alamein FC has introduced a structured internship program offering real experience, real access and real development inside an elite female football pathway.

Our club is committed to providing meaningful opportunities for students and early-career creatives who want to build skills in media, content creation, fan engagement, communications, events or sport operations. These are not “helper” roles. They’re genuine, guided learning experiences built around responsibility, trust and growth.

Why we launched the Intern Program

Women’s football is booming, but formal pathways into sports media, digital content and match-day operations remain limited, especially at the elite and semi-elite level. Many young people want practical, portfolio-building experience, yet struggle to find meaningful opportunities that offer more than basic volunteering.

Our internship program was designed to fill this gap by:

  • Developing young talent in media, digital content and sport operations

  • Opening doors into an elite female football environment

  • Offering rare behind-the-scenes access and creative autonomy

  • Providing real guidance and professional mentoring

  • Helping emerging creatives build a polished, powerful portfolio

  • Growing visibility and storytelling around women’s sport in Victoria

What makes this program special

Real ownership

Alamein interns don’t run errands, they lead genuinely valuable projects, from creative content series to match-day fan engagement initiatives. Their work is credited publicly and included in their professional portfolios.

Meaningful access

Interns gain behind-the-scenes insights across training sessions, match days, player interviews, content shoots and selected club operations. They’re truly part of the team.

Structured mentoring

Interns receive regular feedback, monthly review sessions, guidance on creative or operational skills, and support in building a standout portfolio.

Supportive, all-female environment

The program sits inside a club that values unity, integrity and passion. Interns join a community committed to empowerment, respect and player wellbeing.

Flexible, realistic hours

Designed for students and early-career creatives, the program accommodates study commitments, exams, and paid work.

A safe and positive developmental space

Delivered within our Child Safeguarding framework, the program emphasises safety, boundaries, professionalism and positive learning experiences.

What interns will gain

By the end of the season, interns will have:

  • A complete creative or match-day project they led from concept to execution

  • A substantial portfolio of video, social content or operational experience

  • Professional references and public credits

  • A deep understanding of elite women’s football environments

  • Connections across the sport and creative industries

  • Increased confidence working in fast-paced, real-world settings

For many, this internship will be their first chance to hold real responsibility inside a sporting organisation. For others, it will be a stepping stone into future roles in sports media, journalism, communications, digital content, event delivery or community sport.
