The Good Human Armband

At Alamein FC, we believe that what happens off the ball is just as important as what happens on it. Soccer is a team sport, but it's also a reflection of how we treat each other, how we respond to challenge, and how we show up, for our teammates and for ourselves.

Alamein’s Good Human Armband is awarded annually to one player from every team, during Female Football Week (May). It is a symbol of the values we believe make a lasting impact, both on and off the pitch.

Why we introduced the armband

In competitive environments, performance is often what gets recognised. But at Alamein, we also want to make space for a different kind of recognition.

The Good Human Armband honours players who consistently demonstrate the behaviours in our players that we value the most. These character traits are not add-ons to our success, we believe they are the foundation of it.

What it represents

Wearing the armband is not about being the loudest voice, the fastest runner, or the top goal scorer. It’s about the way a player contributes to the culture of the team. The small things that shape a season: helping a teammate through a tough session, arriving early to set up, listening, including, leading.

Each player who receives the armband is selected by her coach and teammates. The selection process is thoughtful, which ensures the outcome is meaningful.

The Good Human Armband is now an annual part of Alamein’s Female Football Week each May. It reflects our long-term commitment to developing not just strong players, but strong people. We believe that elite sport and character development go hand in hand, and this award is a small but powerful reminder of that.
