What Female Football Week means to us

Female Football Week is a national initiative, but for us at Alamein FC, it feels deeply personal. It’s a chance to pause and celebrate the people, progress, and purpose behind why we do what we do.

Every day, we see the impact of female football on and off the pitch, from our Under 12 pre-NPL players tying up their boots with a heady combination of nerves and excitement before their first game, to our senior players showing what’s possible with years of hard work - even being called up to play for the Young Matildas!

This week gives us the opportunity to spotlight their stories, their effort, and their growth.

It’s also a reminder that football is more than just a game. It’s a platform for belonging, confidence, and identity. During Female Football Week, we will reflect on how far women’s football has come in Australia, and how far there still is to go.

For a small-but-mighty club like ours, this means renewing our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and ambitious environment for girls and women at every stage of their journey. Whether they’re future Matildas, first-time players, or volunteers who quietly keep everything running, we want them to know they matter.

This week, we’ll be sharing stories from our players, spotlighting our sponsors who stand behind them, and recognising the people in our community who champion girls' sport every day. (We’d love to celebrate this week with you: take a look at our Calendar of Events for the week and come see us at any time!)

Happy Female Football Week from everyone at Alamein FC.
