Building futures together
It was a cold night at training, the kind where the wind bites, the grass is wet, and you can see your breath in the lights. But that never stops the Alamein FC squads from training, and on this night they had company.
Armed with a microphone and a warm smile, one of our youngest NPL players, 13-year-old Maddy, interviewed Maggie from Bendigo Bank (Community Bank Inner East) on the edge of the pitch, while the rest of her team trained behind them. Their conversation wasn’t just about football, it was about community, commitment, and how strong sponsor-partnerships like this one keep clubs like Alamein thriving.
Bendigo Bank’s commitment to community
Maggie explained that Bendigo Bank’s mission goes far beyond banking. Every year, the four branches that Maggie oversees (Balwyn, Ashburton, Surrey Hills and Canterbury) reinvest 60 percent of their profits (so far more than $10 million!) back into local community projects, clubs, and initiatives. “We want to see communities grow and succeed,” she said. “That’s why we’re proud to support Alamein FC, because it’s a place where people connect, young players develop, and values are built.”
Why reviewing your banking matters
It wasn’t just community talk though, Maggie also shared some practical advice for the broader Alamein FC community, especially those holding or considering personal or business laons. She encourages everyone to regularly review their banking and loans. Circumstances change, interest rates move, and checking in can save you money or help you reach your goals sooner.
What makes Alamein special
From Maggie’s perspective, Alamein FC is “a club that truly looks after its people, from the youngest juniors to the seniors at the top of their game.” She praised our culture of inclusion, the dedication of our volunteers, and the club’s clear vision for the future of female football.
The setting for this interview (floodlit pitch, players running drills in the background) is a reminder of why partnerships like the one between Bendigo Bank and Alamein FC matter. Every dollar, every bit of support, goes back into keeping our lights on and our players chasing their goals.
Thank you, Bendigo Bank
Alamein FC is deeply grateful for Bendigo Bank’s ongoing support. Together, we’re building something bigger than football: we’re building a community where girls can grow, compete, and belong.
